New England Match Best Winning Streak Since Tom Brady Era with Win Against Jets
First-year player TreVeyon Henderson has recorded five TDs during the current campaign
New England tied their top unbeaten stretch since the Tom Brady era as they defeated AFC East opponents the New York Jets by 13 points in the NFL
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson was the standout with three TDs as the Patriots claimed an eight-game winning streak for the first time since legendary quarterback Brady's final season with the team in the 2019 season
QB Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a TD, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
The win increases the Patriots lead at the top of the AFC East as they improved to nine victories against two losses, with the Jets bottom after falling to a 2-8 mark
The visitors had scored first at their home field with quarterback Justin Fields scoring a five-yard touchdown to conclude the New York's first possession
But the home team answered in the second period as Henderson ran in two short rushing scores before the ball carrier caught a pass from Drake Maye at the back of the endzone halfway into the third period to extend the lead to 21 to 7
"That was a key occasion for him delivering, and it's been great for him to keep getting these reps," Maye said of Henderson. "He aims to be great."
Fields threw to Metchie late in the third quarter to close the gap for the visitors but Andy Borregales kicked a two kicks in the fourth quarter as the Patriots sealed the win
