Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Debuts, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. It was showcased in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that highlighted the upcoming animated film.
The sequel to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the cosmos. There, he will encounter a new princess and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Space-Faring Quest Based on Beloved Titles
Similar to the games from the Wii period that act as its source material, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. On his epic voyage, he will meet again some well-known personalities, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who apparently wields metal-based powers. Notably, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Returns and Expands
The movie will feature once again of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
The new Mario movie is set to release near the 40th anniversary of the first Super Mario Bros. title. In addition to the movie, 2026 looks set to be a significant year for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo confirmed three new games publicly declared for the upcoming year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
