Egypt and Doha are currently engaged in diplomatic moves to urge the Palestinian faction to accept the former US president's proposal to end the conflict in Gaza, as stated by the Egyptian foreign minister.

Growing Pressure on Hamas

Egypt's foreign minister stated that the moment has arrived for Hamas to surrender arms and refrain from offering Israeli forces any excuse to continue its offensive in Gaza, where two dozen Gazans were fatally struck on recently.

“Hamas should not be used as an excuse for the relentless killing of innocents, a situation that has worsened significantly since last year,” the minister remarked.

He added that Egypt is “in close contact with Qatar and Turkey to persuade Hamas to agree to the terms”.

Key Points of the Peace Plan

This proposal would require the group to:

• Disarm and withdraw from political activities
• Release the hostages still held from the 2023 attack, 20 of whom are thought to survive

As part of the deal, Israel would:

• Pull back its forces from Gaza
• Succeeded by an international force
• Allow a transitional authority headed by Trump

Experts believe that the plan would effectively terminate Hamas’s identity as an fighting force, while the Israeli side would give little ground.

Internal Divisions within Hamas

The organization is divided over its reaction, with certain officials requesting more time to evaluate the proposal.

The head of Hamas’s military wing has resisted the proposal, considering it a move to eradicate the group regardless of they agree.

Those familiar with the matter suggest that the faction is inclined to seek modifications regarding:

• The requirement to lay down arms
• Remaining troops of Israeli forces in Gaza
• Assurances that the top officials will not be pursued

Humanitarian Crisis Worsens

Israeli forces carried on its operations in Gaza City and shelling across the territory on the recent day, fatally striking 28 people.

Several of the casualties were in the northern city, while the others perished in southern Gaza, among them three in an aerial attack in a southern area, which had been once declared a secure area.

The Israeli military issued its ultimate directive for the city on Wednesday, with the top defense official announcing that individuals left would be considered a terrorist or terrorist supporter, a label that contradicts international law.

Hundreds of thousands of residents remain stranded in the urban area, with numerous who cannot afford the trip to southern Gaza, which reportedly costs more than $1,000.

“Countless individuals are forced to sleep outdoors while seeking refuge,” said an aid official.

The UN declared that there is nowhere secure for evacuees from Gaza City, as locations designated as secure areas in southern Gaza are dangerous.

A UNICEF spokesperson called the concept of protected spaces as “absurd”, noting that airstrikes are launched with “chilling predictability” and shelters used as temporary shelters are frequently demolished.

Medical Services under Severe Strain

Medical facilities in southern Gaza are operating beyond capacity, with the medical unit treating more than double its intended capacity.

On Thursday, al-Nasser hospital received the remains of 27 individuals of people killed by the Israeli military.

Dr Ahmad al-Farra characterized the circumstances as “extremely difficult”.

Israel has been accused of targeting doctors and clinics, with healthcare professional reportedly “abducted” while on duty in the area.

Authorities has previously claimed that detained healthcare workers had ties to the group, though offering no substantiation.

Fatalities from hostilities in the strip has amounted to at least 62,622 civilians killed and about 170,000 hurt, as reported by the local health officials.
