Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev won his maiden trophy for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult period, managing just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in particular - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Now working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden championship following the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt from that period of that year.

Victory also indicates he has secured 21 championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my children simultaneously, so to get a championship is really nice," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's defensive strategy and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had led observers to question if his capacity to perform at the elite level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, striving to approach the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an better service.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players traded breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first tour championship, gained dominance to force a final set.

He rescued 4 early-game break points in a tight deciding set before the champion won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, he secured victory with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
